Privacy Policy
StockTracker
Effective date: May 7, 2026
StockTracker is a portfolio tracking app developed by Northgate Software. This Privacy Policy explains what information the StockTracker Android app accesses, stores, uses, and shares.
StockTracker is designed around local ownership of portfolio data. The Android app does not require a StockTracker account, does not show ads, and does not use analytics or crash-reporting services.
Information StockTracker Handles
StockTracker may access or store the following information when you choose to use the related app features:
- Portfolio information: stock symbols, share counts, purchase prices, current prices, previous close values, dividend dates, and related portfolio values imported from the StockTracker desktop app or from a portfolio file you select.
- Market data provider settings: your selected stock quote provider and, if you choose a provider that requires credentials, provider API credentials such as an Alpaca Markets API key and API secret.
- Desktop pairing details: local network share URLs and bearer tokens used to import a portfolio or provider credentials from your own StockTracker desktop app.
- Camera access: camera frames are used only to scan StockTracker pairing QR codes. StockTracker does not save photos or videos from the camera.
- Files you select: if you manually import a portfolio file, StockTracker reads the selected file so it can validate and copy the portfolio into the app's private storage.
How StockTracker Uses Information
StockTracker uses this information to provide the app's portfolio features, including:
- displaying a read-only copy of your portfolio on Android;
- calculating totals, daily changes, and capital gains on your device;
- refreshing stock quote data from the market data provider you select;
- importing portfolio data and provider credentials from your desktop app over your local network; and
- saving your portfolio and settings so the app can continue working after setup.
Security
Portfolio data is stored in the app's private local storage on your Android device. Provider credentials are stored using the platform secure storage APIs available through .NET MAUI. Desktop pairing uses bearer tokens, and provider credential transfers from desktop are encrypted before transfer.
No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. Use StockTracker only on devices and networks you trust, and keep desktop sharing enabled only while importing or syncing.
Retention And Deletion
StockTracker keeps imported portfolio data, selected provider settings, saved desktop pairing details, and saved provider credentials on your Android device until you remove them or uninstall the app.
You can delete data in these ways:
- Use Clear Portfolio in the Android app to remove the saved portfolio and desktop pairing details.
- Use Market Data Settings to clear saved provider credentials.
- Uninstall StockTracker to remove app data from the device, subject to any Android or Google backup behavior configured on your device.
StockTracker does not create app accounts, so there is no StockTracker account to delete.
Your Choices
- You can deny camera permission and use pasted pairing details instead of scanning a QR code.
- You can choose Yahoo Quotes, which does not require provider credentials, or choose an authenticated provider such as Alpaca Markets.
- You can stop using a provider at any time by changing the selected quote provider or clearing saved credentials.
- You can keep the Android app offline except when importing from desktop or refreshing quotes.
Children's Privacy
StockTracker is not directed to children. StockTracker does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes To This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when StockTracker's features or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when changes are made.
